Genie bra: The answer to relief from bad posture

Heard of the ‘Genie Bra’? It claims relief from bad posture, post operative pain and chafing, and is trending abroad. Will desi shores follow suit?

Genie bra: The answer to relief from bad posture

Like your lingerie sexy? But don’t like the marks left behind on your skin after a long day at work? Always wondered if all the chafing would magically vanish and your lingerie could just... well, be comfortable!

A new brassiere called the ‘Genie Bra’ claims to do just that — correct bad posture, besides putting an end to chafing, neck, shoulder, and post operative pain. The sports bra-style garment has apparently been designed to move with the figure, moulding to the correct cup size. With that moniker, no wonder the bra has sold a million units in US in just one week and sold out in four hours online in UK!

The seamless garment made of nylon and spandex claims to end struggling with straps and feeling underwire digging into your skin. What do Indian designers feel? Designer Anna Singh feels that one must look beyond the hype and buy the right fit.

“Innerwear is more important than outerwear. It is what makes you feel fresh and comfortable all day. Getting the correct fit, hold and comfort is very important. Experts at lingerie stores abroad tell you what fit to buy; that kind of practice should be there in India,” she asserts.

Designer Nishka Lulla says, “The name will attract buyers. Comfort is the first thing to look for when buying a bra. Underwire might get a little irritating,” she says.

Designer Neeta Lulla agrees, “Constricted lingerie might give discomfort, which in turn may even lead to breast problems.”
Speaking about whether the ‘Genie Bra’ will make an impact here, TV presenter and funnyman Kunal Vijaykar says, “Well, if the bra moves with the figure, visually it will appear great. And that’s a good thing for all the men out there who appreciate beautiful figures!”
