Film reviewing is my forté: Sajid Khan

Sajid Khan will get back to doing what he does best — reviewing films on television

Film reviewing is my forté: Sajid Khan

He’s the quintessential funny man. But, Sajid Khan can be quite serious when you discuss cinema. The actor-television anchor-funny man-film-maker is all set to return to television in January 2011, doing what he did best — reviewing cinema. “Film reviewing is my forté. I love and breathe cinema. This is what I am most passionate about. Comedy may be what entices me, but I love all kinds of cinema. I’ve also been one of the first Bollywood film reviewers on television. I’m happy to get back,” says Sajid, whose show is scheduled to take off on Colors.

He’s quite opinionated on the current lot of reviewers on television. “Reviewing isn’t for everyone. It needs to be done tactfully. It is a verdict, which will assist people on whether to watch a film or not. But most people today write the entire summary of the plot and forget to say whether the film is worth watching or not. Not only is it incomplete, but it kills the market of the film, once the story is revealed,” points out Sajid.

If he’s returning home to familiar territories on the small screen, he’s also exploring newer areas on the large screen. “I’m collaborating with Vashu Bhagnani, who will produce my first ever non-comic film. I’m going to direct a thriller but that will take off only much later. By early next year, I should be embarking on the sequel to Housefull. Without a doubt, it will feature both Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh. They made the film the funny entertainer that it is. In fact, I’m the sort of maker who’s used to working with a team who makes me feel comfortable. If you see the credits of Housefull 2, you will realise that,” he signs off.
