ShareLOS ANGELES: An Indian-origin fashion designer in the United States has been arrested in connection with a series of alleged sexual assaults dating back to 2004.
33-year-old Anand Jon Alexander, who has dressed the likes of Paris Hilton and actress Michelle Rodriguez, was arrested on March 6 and is being held at the Los Angeles County Jail on a total of seven counts of rape, committing a lewd act upon a child, sexual battery, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, reports said.
Bail for the designer, who goes by the name Anand Jon, has been fixed at USD 1.3 million and his first court date is on April 4, when he is expected to be arraigned.
Jon was arrested by the local police at his Beverly Hills home after a woman accused him of raping her. A probe into the allegations revealed three other potential victims, the youngest being 15 years old, news reports said.
The crimes are alleged to have occurred between October 2004 and March 5, 2007, it said.
Jon launched his fashion line in 1999 after graduating from the Parsons School of Design in New York.
