Farhan Akhtar ditches Rohan Sippy

Rohan Sippy might not work with Farhan Akhtar again. The filmmaker apparently has not taken Farhan’s ‘no’ too kindly because he took about six months to say it.

Says a source, “Rohan Sippy was making a movie with three heroes. He had already finalised Abhishekh Bachchan and Prateik Babbar. For the third hero, he approached Farhan Akhtar. After the narration sittings and briefing sessions, Farhan suddenly asked for some time to decide. Rohan thought that he would get a call from Farhan in two, three days. But he started to become impatient when Farhan still didn’t give him an answer in one month.”

After three months, Rohan decided not to wait for Farhan.

“Rohan Sippy, Abhishek and Farhan are childhood friends and no one saw any problems in the casting. Also Rohan’s film is being produced by his father Ramesh Sippy, who is a close family friend of Farhan’s father Javed Akhtar. Farhan ultimately declined the offer after four months and put the whole project in a tizzy,” the source adds.

Rohan then started scouting for a fresh face for the film which is supposed to be an expose of the drug racket in Goa and one of the characters was supposed to be the drug don. He thought of John Abraham and even started talking to him for the project. But even that didn’t materialize. Ultimately, he settled for the south Indian hero Rana for the villain’s role.

“Rana is much demand in the south and has several films to his credit. But Rohan would have ideally liked somebody from Bollywood. But he couldn’t afford to wait any longer at the cost of the other star Abhishekh Bachchan. So, he signed Rana,” the source says.

But Rohan is not very happy the way his childhood friend ditched him at the last moment which changed the film’s character. “He didn’t expect that from Farhan. He has told all his friends that he won’t work with Farhan again,” the source added.
