Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan’s fan club took out a colourful procession in Kolkata on Friday to mark the release of his film Paa.
The fans, most of them seen wearing Paa masks, danced to drum beats in a style similar to that of Amitabh himself in the film, as they converged at cinema halls to catch the first day, first show of the film.
Bachchan has played the role of a child affected by Progeria in the film. Children with this rare disease age faster and have a relatively short life span.
Kushal Dasgupta, assistant secretary of the Amitabh Bachchan Fan Club, said Amitabh has once again proven his exceptional talent by playing this extremely difficult role.
“We are confident regarding the success of Paa because it is going to be a landmark in the history of the world cinema. As we all know that Amitji (as Bachchan is popularly known) has completed 40 years of a glorious journey way back from 1969 to 2009. So, as a mark of respect for the legend and mark of celebration of the film, Paa, we have gathered here. Amitabh is not only an actor, but a legend and a millennium star,” Dasgupta said.
State secretary of the club, Sanjay Patodia, said that Paa would create awareness about the rare disease.
