Every day, she reads reports of being cast opposite a different hero, but actor Shriya Saran doesn’t care. “It’s part of being in the industry. People are always contemplating on what you’re up to. So, it is natural that they associate me with new projects,” says Shriya, hinting at the latest rumour that she is part of Karthi’s Saguni, which she isn’t.

Though, Shriya is proud of her international project Winds Of Change, the onscreen adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children by Deepa Mehta. “It is a fabulous project to be part of. Deepa Mehta is a dream to work with. Everything about the film is so larger than life,” says Shriya.

She adds, “I had some amazing co-stars. Rahul Bose was very helpful. He particularly guided me with my training and fitness regimes. It was amazing to work with Seema Biswas again. She is inspiring. Despite a rib injury, she attended all the reading sessions. And then there was Soha (Ali Khan), who I got along so well with.”

Shriya’s quite excited about the regional films in her kitty too. “I’ve just wrapped up work on Rowthiram (which co-stars Jiiva). It is a great script to be part of. There’s also Casanova, opposite Mohanlal, in Malayalam that I’m working on,” says she.

The Celebrity Cricket League brand ambassador doesn’t deny her Bollywood dreams. “I’ve had a couple of films thus far. I would be lying if I say I don’t want to work in more Bollywood films. But, I’m just waiting for the right film-makers and scripts. Until then I’m quite enjoying what I’m doing,” she says.

Quiz her on whom she roots for in the CCL and she answers diplomatically, “I’m not taking anyone’s sides. I’m going to root for the best team. And so far, we’ve seen that everyone in all four industries are putting in their best.”
