While the late Michael Jackson's famed dance move — the crotch-grab — has been flashed innumerably in music videos and copied in Bollywood too, in this instance the censor board is proving to be more 'crotchety'.
The board wants Sajid Nadiadwala to chop a scene from an Akshay Kumar-Kareena Kapoor song sequence in Kambakkht Ishq which features a person from the cast involved in a dance act where he looks at his own crotch. The film, which has been given a U/A certificate, has undergone a total of nine cuts.
Vinayak Azad, regional officer of the censor board in Mumbai, said, "I think it was the title song featuring Akshay and Kareena which has this act. Though the action of Akshay and Kareena was all fine, there was a particular character from the film — not a prominent one from the cast though — who looks down. Though nothing was shown blatantly, yet audiences would get the hint that he was looking at his crotch while doing a particular step in front of the camera."
Azad said the censors decided that "such action was not permissible and communicated to the film-makers that they have to delete the scene. Such action is not for public viewing, especially if a film has a U or U/A certificate. Some dialogues of the film were also not permissible and about nine cuts were suggested to them, which they will comply with."
Kapoor and Amrita Arora have sported bikinis in the film and Kumar and Bebo have locked lips too, but the censor board felt that such scenes weren’t as eyebrow raising.
