Yesteryear actor and Ramayan character artist, Vijay Arora, succumbed to intestinal disorder on Friday morning

Hindi film actor Vijay Arora, who famously romanced Zeenat Aman in the hit number Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko, passed away early on Friday morning. The 62-year-old actor had been suffering from an intestinal disorder for the last few months. Arora is survived by his wife and son.

After having acted as a leading man and later as a character artist in more than 100 films including Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Phagun and Sargam, Arora turned cinematographer for movies like Astitva, Vaastav, Viruddh and Dus.

He has also worked in several television serials including Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan in which he essayed the role of Meghnath. He was seen more recently in tele-serials like Lakeerein and Talaash.

Arora won a gold medal on graduating from the Film and Television Institute of India in 1971. A year later he made his debut in Zaroorat with another newcomer Reena Roy.

Though the film went unnoticed, Arora went on to bag several other films like Rakhi Aur Hathkadi and Insaaf.

Incidentally, all the films Arora starred in as a leading man had strong women characters including Waheeda Rehman, Jaya Bhaduri, Asha Parekh, Tanuja and Shabana Azmi. After the lead roles dried up, Arora was seen in bit roles in films like Roti and Sargam.
