BBC bosses were said to be eager to cast The X Factor judge in the science fiction show.
They allegedly plan to make a "serious offer" to the 26-year-old singer for an appearance in the next series.
"We'd love Cheryl with us if she can fit us in," the Daily Star quoted a show source as saying.
"We have a couple of roles in mind. One is an alien empress and the other is a real baddie," the source added.
