'Chak De' typecast me: Shilpa Shukla

She pulled superstar actor Shah Rukh Khan towards her and opening the front zipper of her sports jacket said, “I can do anything for you…”

Actress Shilpa Shukla says that till date that is her most favourite scene from their film Chak De.. India!! “I still get calls from people whenever the film is playing on TV and they all love that scene.”

But didn’t the film typecast her? “In a way it did because everybody thought that aggressive or alpha female roles are something that I would carry off with elan. But I am also dying to play other kind of roles,” says Shilpa who’s playing yet another “intense character” in her upcoming film Bhendi Bazaar.

“I am playing a pick-pocket in this film who’s also in love with this gangster. It’s about Mumbai’s underworld and it’s a fast and intense film. The best part of the film is that the story unfolds like a game of chess,” she says.

We then probe her on her famous brother whom she hardly about talks in the press — Tenzin Priyadarshi (Founding Director of The Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the founding President of the Prajnopaya Foundation, a worldwide humanitarian organisation) she says, “I’m always in touch with him. We met a couple of months back and I am proud to have a brother like him. He is a direct discipline of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and he ordained himself at a very young age (he entered the Buddhsist monastery at the age of 10),” she ends.
