‘Britney Spears is a pro’

While a lot has been said and written about the rumoured rivalry between singer Christina Aguilera and pop queen Britney Spears of late, Christina has dispelled it by speaking in support of her arch rival Britney.

The two have donned the role of a judge in two rival television reality shows — Britney on X Factor and Christina in The Voice. “You know I have been in this business for a while now.  In fact, I’ve grown up in it.  I’ve been in it since I was four. I came up with Britney,  Mickey Mouse Club, and we were very close,” states Christina, when asked about how she reacts to being pitted against Britney.

The Genie in a Bottle hitmaker finds it rather exciting to be pitted once again with her contemporary. “You know, our paths have always crossed. And it’s interesting that they continue to cross. And I welcome her to this family of fun, entertainment and discovering new talent,”  says Christina.

She continues, “Britney is a pro. I don’t know what she is going to offer as a coach, but I know she’s a pro. And she’s going to give some great advice. I don’t know the format of the other shows. I just know the show that I’m on, but I welcome these very talented women.”

The singer states that it is a part of the business to pit women against women “especially in my genre of pop! They pit us against one another, women against women and this and that. I have no patience for it.  So I’m like, ‘Come on! The more, the merrier’.  It’s a fun thing to be a part of.  And I think she’ll have fun with it too.”
