Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie donate $500,000 to Joplin tornado relief

Hot Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated $500,000 to help the struggling victims of the Joplin, Mo tornado.

The couple handed over the money to the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, which will help to rebuild the area which was devastated by the natural disaster.

Pitt - who is a Missouri native and also attended the state's university - issued a statement about their generous donation.

"With the devastating loss of thirty percent of the city, the Joplin community faces great challenges ahead. Having spent most of my childhood there, I know these people to be hardworking, humble and especially resilient,” Radar Online quoted him as saying.

“The locally based Community Foundation of the Ozarks will be working shoulder to shoulder with these Joplin residents for the long haul as they rebuild their lives. We, too, hope to further help with these rebuilding efforts,” he added.

Jolie added: “Our hearts go out to the families in Joplin who have lost so much."
