Bollywood: An oomphilicious 2012!

It’s Jan 1st. DNA brings you the Bollywood beauties who are set to sizzle this New Year.

Vidya Balan

Films on hand: Kahaani (with Emraan Hashmi), Ghayal Returns (with Sunny Deol)

Where she scores: A fabulous actress, who can carry off a film on her shoulders alone. She is the best choice for medium budget films that has a female protagonist.

Needs to wok on: When it comes to glam quotient, she stands no chance against a Kareena, Katrina, Deepika or a Priyanka. She doesn’t seem to fit in the light ‘girlfriend’ role opposite heroes.

Trade Speak: Vidya Balan charges perhaps the least among all the actresses in the top bracket. She is also ready to go to any length to carry off a role. A hassle-free actress, she never makes any demand regarding changes in script or an increase of her track in a  film, say analysts.

Priyanka Chopra

Films on hand: Agneepath (with Hrithik, Sanjay Dutt), Krrish 2 (with Hrithik), Teri Meri Kahaani (Shahid Kapoor), Barfee (with Ranbir Kapoor)

Where she scores: Priyanka’s known to overshadow her co-stars in a film. Her oomphy screen presence only adds to her acting talents.

Needs to work on: Priyanka is seen as too rigid when it comes to the script. Sources say that Priyanka wouldn’t take up a project where she is not getting to act, hence has missed out on quite a few big banner films with an ensemble starcast.

Trade-speak: Priyanka is still affordable, and can act as well as a hero. She can pull off a movie on her shoulders, according to the trade.

Sonakshi Sinha

Films on hand: Rowdy Rathore (with Akshay Kumar), Joker (with Akshay Kumar), Son Of Sardar (with Ajay Devgn), Dabangg 2 (with Salman Khan), Lootera (with Ranveer Singh)

Where she scores: She has the tag of a hit heroine, can act and look glamorous as well.

Needs to work on: Her weight issues. Her fluctuating  weight has been grist for many detractors’ mills.

Trade-speak: Sonakshi has such an impressive line-up in 2012 that she cannot go wrong. If Akshay doesn’t click with her, Ajay or a Salman would. She is poised to deliver one more blockbuster this year too, say insiders.

Katrina Kaif

Films on hand: Ek Tha Tiger (with Salman Khan), Yash Chopra’s next film (with Shah Rukh Khan), at least two more big films on the negotiating table waiting for her nod.

Where she scores: Katrina doesn’t mind getting over-shadowed by the boys, does not belong to any camp and nor is she going steady with anyone. The fact that she is not planning to get married anytime soon, has producers  lining up for her.

Needs to work on: Katrina needs to work on her acting skills, say industry watchers.

Trade-speak: Every hero wants to work with Katrina. She’s known to be hardworking and pleasant to work with on the sets, which always makes her the first choice for any film, say insiders.

Kareena Kapoor

Films on hand: Ek Mai Aur Ekk Tu (with Imran Khan), Agent Vinod (with Saif Ali Khan), Talaash (with Aamir Khan and Rani Mukerji), Once Upon a time in Mumbai 2 (Akshay Kumar, Shahid Kapoor) and Heroine (with Arjun Rampal).

Where she scores:  Kareena is a perfect combination of beauty, glamour and acting talent. With an enviable bloodline that has produced the finest actors in Bollywood, Bebo has also given some of the biggest hits last year.

Needs to work on: The stories of her tying the knot is driving a few filmmakers away. Besides, the rumours of her being the highest paid heroine in Bollywood is not helping at all.

Trade-speak: She is the only heroine on the top, who can carry off intense performance oriented roles. She is also friendly and pally with all the top Khans in Bollywood, and looks set to rule 2012 too, say industry watchers.

Deepika Padukone

Films on hand: Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (with Ranbir Kapoor), Cocktail (with Saif Ali Khan), Race 2 (with Anil Kapoor and John Abraham).

Where she  scores: A good looking girl and a good actor who fits perfectly in an ensemble cast film.

Needs to work on: She needs a few hits as a solo heroine.

Trade-speak:  Deepika is a perfect combination of beauty and glamour, and the most wanted after Katrina for a fim.

She is also not as costly as any of her contemporaries, say trade pundits.

Sonam Kapoor

Players is going to be her first film release. The racy thriller will then be followed up by a biopic Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

Asin

After the blockbuster Ready last year, she has two good films in her kitty — Bol Bachchan and Housefull 2.

Anushka Sharma

She has Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola and Yash Chopra’s untitled venture.

Nargis Fakhri:

She caught the maximum eyeballs in 2011. Everybody is watching her in 2012 too, although she’s yet to announce a movie.

Ileana D’Cruz:

She already has two high profile projects in 2012 — Khiladi 786 (with Akshay) and Barfee (with Ranbir Kapoor). You cannot miss her in 2012.

Parineeti Chopra:

This former PR professional stole the show from the leading heroine Anushka Sharma in Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl.
