Shillong: The birthday boy was missing but not the fanfare and the songs immortalised in the 60s
were found still blowing in the wind. No other city, perhaps, has been celebrating Bob Dylan's birthday without a break for the past 38 years. And on Sunday, it was no different in Shillong.

A cult figure, hundreds of fans of the philosopher-musician of this music-loving city poured in at the Laban Sports Club premises here and went ahead with the 68th
birthday celebrations of the legendary singer.

The musical event witnessed performances by local artistes amid the participation of school students as well as Dylan fans from outside the state. Shillong's very own 'Bob Dylan' Lou Majaw and his colleagues played Dylan numbers and their own compositions.

"Our objective is to make music a part of education and usher in educational entertainment. It is not to praise or adore him (Dylan), but to recollect his influence and his work for humanity. I am running short of words to explain his influence on us. Through his writings, he has explored many wonders," said Majaw. Wherever Majaw performs, there is always a reference to Dylan, their cult hero.
