Mumbai: My Name is Khan, the upcoming movie of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who turned 44 today, will hit the screens worldwide on February 12 next year.

The film, directed by Karan Johar, will see the return of the successful pair of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajor on the big screen after a gap of eight years.

The actors, who worked together in blockbuster hits like Baazigar, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, were last seen in Johar's Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham in 2001.

"I keep setting out to do something different with my films, but the one constant that remains is my desire to continue to explore the many ways in which two people can fall in love and stay in love regardless of any or every challenge against them," director Karan Johar, who last worked with Shah Rukh Khan in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna said.

"With this film, we hope to meet the audiences' expectations, and we hope to entertain audiences, both in India and around the world in a manner that has perhaps never been done before," he added.

The film, at its core, is an epic love story between two people who have a unique way of seeing the world, but what sets it apart is the landscape on which the story unfolds, said the director.

The actor stars as Rizvan Khan, an unconventional hero, who embarks on an incredible journey across America in order to win back the love of his life. Along the way, his unique brand of goodness and humanity touches the lives of many and inspires a nation.

Khan and Johar have enjoyed a successful run at the box office by teaming up in superhits like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and Kal Ho Na Ho.

Produced by Johar and SRK, in association with Fox STAR Studios, 20th Century Fox International and Fox Searchlight Pictures, My Name Is Khan will have simultaneous release in India and over 40 countries including the US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East on the Valentine's Day weekend.

"What makes My Name is Khan a very special film is that it brings together the finest Indian talent with a powerful story that has relevance for audiences everywhere," said Fox Star Studios CEO Vijay Singh.

Khan's only release this year has been Billu, his home production starring Irrfan Khan and Lara Dutta. Shah Rukh appeared in a guest appearance playing a movie star. The film did average business at the box office.

Fox STAR Studios will market and distribute the film in India, while Fox Searchlight Pictures which marketed and distributed Danny Boyle's Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire in the US, will release the film there.

My Name Is Khan will be distributed outside India and the US by Twentieth Century Fox International.
