Bee Gees' Robin Gibb rushed to hospital due to severe stomach pains

Robin Gibb had to be rushed to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, after collapsing due to severe stomach pains.

The 61-year-old co-founder of the musical group Bee Gees, was taken to the hospital from his luxury home by ambulance and also withdrew from recording a special Remembrance Sunday edition of the BBC programme ‘Songs of Praise’.

The singer, who has been admitted on several occasions and also had a life-saving surgery for a blocked intestine last year, later revealed in a statement that he was being treated for inflammation of the colon and also requested for his privacy to be respected.

“Robin requests that, since this is a difficult time for him and his family, his privacy be respected,” the Sun quoted the statement as saying.

“He would like to thank all his friends and fans for their good wishes and sends them his love,” the statement read.

Gibb’s wife Dwina is helping to care for him and his son Spencer has flown from America to be by his ailing father’s side.
