AR Rahman

Music maestro AR Rahman, who’s synonymous with patiotism having given music to some of the best patriotic tunes and chants, will not be releasing any new single on Republic Day this year. He last released a single Satyameva Jayate, where he collaborated with international rock icons Mick Jagger, Joss Stone, on Independence Day. “Though Satyameva was well timed and released just before the Independence Day, this time there is nothing new in terms of patriotic songs,” said Rahman.
But the musician has no plans to let the day go by without doing something patriotic on the day. Rahman will be performing live in Chennai at the Sir Mutha Venkata Subba Rao Auditorium (Lady Andal) this evening. A collaboration with the German-based Bablesberg Orchestra, the musician and his students from his KM Music Conservatory (Chennai) will have him belting out some popular patriotic songs from his past film works like Lagaan, Swades, Slumdog Millionnaire etc. The songs will have a western orchestral twist to it. The musician has already given Mumbai a taste of the collaborative music at NCPA last week. “We might be taking this show to Germany too,” reveals the Oscar-winner.
