Mumbai: In a country where cricket is considered religion, actor Amrita Rao wishes to stay away from the game. However, she wants to maintain this distance from the game only in her reel life and not in real life.

After one of her films about cricket flopped at the box office, the actor decides not to sign movies based on the game anymore.

After her tryst with cricket on-screen proved to be a box office disaster (Victory with Hurman Baweja went unnoticed) Amrita is shy to take up any other film based on the game. In fact sources said Amrita was supposed to play the lead in David Dhawan's Hook Ya Crook. But she chose not to do the movie because she felt she would be doing something similar to Victory.

The source said, "David was quite unhappy when Amrita declined the offer. He also asked other industry folks to convince her to do the movie. Finally, when things did not work out, Genelia D'Souza was offered the role. Genelia fit the bill completely as she has the girl-next-door image and is also supposedly a huge fan of cricket."

Amrita said, "David Dhawan is the blockbuster king in Bollywood. I love his work and would have never said no to him. It's just that Hook Ya Crook didn't make sense to me as I had already explored that angle in Victory. Probably if it was on football I would have still considered it. But cricket is something I have already experimented with. So, I am hoping David-ji makes a film involving another sport. Then I would definitely be game."
Hook Ya Crook also stars Shreyas Talpade, Kay Kay Menon and Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni among others.
