Mumbai: Acclaimed American playwright, performer, feminist and activist, Eve Ensler, is all set for her next India visit. Not only is she working on a new script that she will soon be taking to the publishers, this tentatively untitled production will be premiering for the first time in the world in India, for which Eve will be present.
While details about the subject of the play remain tight-lipped, Mahabanoo Mody-Kotwal who directed Eve's The Vagina Monologues admits, "Yes, I can confirm it is an absolutely new work that Eve has been penning. It has yet not been published in America.
However, rehearsals will soon start in August." The director also confirms that the date for the play's premiere has been set for November 12.
Will the new work remain on the traditional lines of Eve's works that dwell on violence against women? Mahabanoo quips, "I have to remain silent on this. We have signed up a confidentiality deal."
However, she adds, "Though Eve has been in India earlier for personal visits, this will be the first time she will be here for the premiere of her play."
