Akshay Kumar’s 'Rowdy Rathore' to release early

Actor Akshay Kumar’s new movie, Rowdy Rathore is set to be released earlier than the set date.

The movie which was previously slotted for a June 15 release, will now release a fortnight earlier, on June 1. And the decision apparently has to do with the T-20 cricket matches coming up.
The producer of the film Siddharth Roy Kapur, confirms this development as he says,“Rowdy Rathore will now release on June 1, the first big release after the conclusion of the cricket season.” It appears that since hardly any big budget films are being released after Agent Vinod in March 23 till May 27 — the day of the final of the cricket tournament. A source tells us that the decision to prepone the film was not an easy one and a lot of thought was put into it. “After much deliberation, the producers have decided to prepone the release date by two weeks. It’s simply a marketing strategy. They obviously kept in mind the cricket season and its effect on the public at large. Since there is no big budget films releasing this time, they want to grab the market right after the tournament ends. The masses will need something to replace the cricket craze, and the producers think that their film will be the solution to it,” says an insider.
