Ajay Devgn most under-rated actor in the industry: Sajid Khan

Director Sajid Khan, who is currently busy promoting his upcoming film, is totally upbeat that the film will do wonders at the box-office. He says, “See, I’m not stupid, I’m not foolish, I know what I’m doing and I know what’s going to work. Believe me when I’m saying this. The statement will sound arrogant but God has given me this gift. And this time Housefull 2 has been made on a much bigger scale — three times larger in terms of size, budget, and honest to God, three times larger in terms of screenplay too.”

Talking about his gift, Sajid adds, “I always believed in myself and 90 percent of the time in my life, my prediction about my film has come out correctly. I don’t make films for myself, I make films for the audience and I make them the way I would like to see them as part of an audience.” Clearing the air that he comes across as arrogant, he says, “It is not the case, because a person who doesn’t take himself seriously, but his work seriously can never be arrogant.”

Moving on to his next project, the remake of Himmatwala, he clarifies his choice in casting actor Ajay Devgn, “First of all it’s a homage, not a remake. Ajay and I go way back to college; we always had mutual respect for each other. He is one of the most underrated actors in the industry. Ajay is a superb actor and a fighter, good at comedy, does drama extremely well and he is a superstar.”

So is he going to follow his sister, filmmaker Farah Khan and get into acting as well? “No. I have been on TV before, for me it was a different journey. I never wanted to be a filmmaker. I’m lucky that I get to make films that I want to and I don’t want to give that up and put make-up on my face. Now, I don’t have to wake up early in the morning and shave to go and direct a film or be on a treadmill trying to look fit,” laughs Sajid.
