Aishwarya and Urmila have done justice to my songs: Asha Bhosle

Singler Asha Bhosle’s voice has launched many a pretty faces in Bollywood. But ask her as to who has done maximum jusitice to her numbers and she says Urmila Matondkar and Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan.

“These two girls have done justice to my songs. Urmilla was simply superb in Tanha tanha,” she says nostalgically.

Having sung for almost every face in the industry, Asha maintains that the old time Bollywood actors were the best to work with as they preferred to be around while she herself would be recording the songs in the studio. “It helped them absorb the element better,” she explains.

“Helen used to call me just a little before the recordings and ask me to sing the song keeping her in mind,” she fondly recalls. “Even Madhubala used to sit beside me while I recorded in the studio.”

Asha suggests that the young brigade of actors too should follow the same. “It will be helpful to them.”

Talking about the changing scenario in the industry Asha maintains that “Singing is only thing I’m capable of doing.” With her mellifluous voice, Asha has added grace to countless songs and myriad compositions. From pure classical to popular pop, this iconic singer has explored it all.

But she says that her latest album with Shujaat Khan is essentially different and hatke from her previous albums. “It is not pure classical, neither is it a fusion, but simply some soulful music,” says Asha, who still prefers to do a live studio recording for all her tracks.
