Actress Narmmada talks about her debut film

Actor Govinda’s daughter Narmmada Ahuja’s Bollywood debut may have been delayed but she is all set to be seen on the ramp for the first time as she struts her stuff for designer Nisha Sagar’s bridal line.

Ask her if marriage is on her mind as well and she quips, “Not at all, I am not seeing anyone, I am happily single and besides for now my focus is completely on my career.”

The young actor has learnt the ropes of acting from the London Film Institute and talking about her debut she says, “It’s weird that it [the film] got delayed, but sometimes I feel that a little delay is better than doing something wrong. I am working on a movie which will go on the floors in January. It is a romantic comedy.”

When quizzed about her co-star, she says, “I am not allowed to reveal any details — let things get finalised and we will announce it. I will be more than happy to share the information.”

Narmmada also clears rumours about working in a Hollywood film: “I have to find out where these silly rumours come from. It was said that I was working in a Bhojpuri film. Then I was said to be debuting with Salman Khan in Dabaang, when the fact is that I haven’t met him for two years now.

"About the Hollywood film, I am working with a Hollywood director Deepa on a Bollywood film. It’s silly how people come up with such stupid and baseless rumours.”

So does being actor Govinda’s daughter have its perks and help her get into the industry? “I would like to clear this perception that people have about star kids. We have a bigger responsibility and pressure to deliver our best. We are also constantly compared to our parents who are already established. So I think being a star kid has more drawbacks than perks,” Narmada said.
