Abhishek Bachchan unveils world's tallest Hanuman idol

Bollywood heartthrob Abhishek Bachchan, a self-confessed Hanuman 'bhakt' (devotee), unveiled the world's largest statue of the monkey god in Shimla today.

The statue was unveiled by the actor at Jakhu temple here amid much fanfare and he was among the first ones to offer his prayers to Hanuman.

"I strongly believe in Hanumanji and am fully convinced that just having unflinching faith in him solves all problems," said the 34-year-old actor.

Bachchan said that he was fascinated with the natural beauty of Shimla and would definitely visit again with his famous family.

"My film LOC was shot in the hill station and I have come back after nine years," said the actor who will next be seen in the period drama Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se.

The film directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, revolves around the Chittagong uprising of the 1930's.

"I was moved by the history of Chittagong uprising and strongly felt that the stories of valour and courage shown by great revolutionaries must be depicted on big screen," he said.
