Abhay Deol hates Mumbai

That actor Abhay Deol is a travel freak, is not something new. But he’s now taking that love for the outdoors to another level — and that is by shfting bag and baggage to another place. While most go to Goa on a vacation, the actor is doing the opposite —he’s planning to make it his permanent home and is in the process of building an eco friendly home in Goa.

Ask him why Goa? “I hate Mumbai,” comes the prompt reply. “I don’t dislike the place for its people, but for the potholes, the noise, the traffic and the pollution. There really is no quality of life in Mumbai,” he adds.

Being the environmentally conscious person that he is, home in Goa is an eco friendly one where he plans to install solar panel and use compost bins. “The other problem with Mumbai is the prices of apartments. It is the same as that in New York. I can get a bungalow in Goa in the money spent in buying an apartment here. Besides, Goa is just an hour away. I don’t need to live in the city for work, then why live here at all?” he questions. He adds further, “India’s home and I just want to have  a good quality of life here. I don’t get that in Mumbai which is unfortunate as we all work hard and deserve to live in a healthy atmosphere. I am lucky as I can afford to a house in Goa.”
