Aamir is like Archie: Prachi Desai

Actor Prachi Desai gets candid about her favourite movies and a role that she yearns to play.

Aamir is like Archie: Prachi Desai

Popular for her role as Bani in a television daily, Prachi Desai feels her onscreen persona is a sharp contrast with her real character. Prachi graduated to Bollywood with Rock On, a movie that she loves to watch time and again.

Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar
is one of her all time favourite movies. She explains her fondness of the movie by equating it with her love for the popular American comic Archie. “When I watched the movie for the first time I completely related it to the comic. Aamir Khan was like this hero from my favourite comic,” she says.

Besides, she was really impressed by Dil Chahta Hai for reasons aplenty. She admires Farhan Akhtar’s laissez-faire vision which created the cult film and is a huge Priety Zinta fan too. “The realistic component that the film dealt with came as a breath of fresh air,” she adds. Julia Robert is one of her favourite actors. Her presence in My Best Friend’s Wedding pulled the movie to Prachi’s top three.

Of all the genres, Prachi loves horror and makes sure she creates the perfect ambience as well. “I pack all my friends in my room, switch the lights off and make it pitch dark before I play a horror movie,” says Prachi with a playful chuckle. Even though Prachi loves watching horror, she complains that they don’t make a good second time watch. “It’s so annoying when you know the entire plot, the scheme, and even when exactly the ghost is to appear,” she grins.

Prachi admits to watching several not-so-great movies solely for the good music or great cast, but concedes that it is a blend of perfect music, direction, cinematography and cast which makes a movie-blockbuster.

“I love watching films but sadly I don’t make much effort to do so (laughs),” says a candid Prachi. A role that she would yearn for is that of Kareena Kapoor (Geeth) in Jab We Met, which, she says, identifies with her real life character.
