‘A woman’s harassment journey starts from womb to tomb!’

Actor Kinshuk Mahajan aka Pintoo Singh of Zee TV’s Afsar Bitiya, completely supports the DNA I Can Women’s Half Marathon and believes in the causes of educating the girl child, spreading awareness about cervical cancer and safety of women in public places. “One hears of so many women being diagnosed with cancer and it can all be avoided through regular check-ups and early diagnosis... DNA’s marathon helps to spread the word,” says Kinshuk.

“Cervical cancer is posing a serious threat to women and there is a vaccine available which can prevent it. When clubbed with regular check-ups, many women can protect themselves from cancer,” he adds. Also he feels that education of girls is a very serious issue and strongly advocates for ‘all mothers in India to be educated, as they are the ones who shape the life of their children’. The actor is equally vocal when it comes to public safety for women. “Having grown up in Delhi, I’ve been a witness to so many instances of a woman’s space being violated and it enrages me. Laws need to be stricter and we should not let anyone get away with any kind of misbehaviour,” adds the actor.

Actor Mitali Nag who plays Krishna in Zee TV’s Afsar Bitiya too supports DNA initiative. “For me all these causes are very close to my heart. Being a woman myself I know their importance in our lives,” she says as she rattles of statistical figures. A firm believer in the power of educating girl child, Mitali adds, “A girl child’s first and most influential environment is her family, and sons and daughters must be equally valued and loved. Also, boys must be raised with an understanding of this equality and be prepared to work together with women as equal partners in all fields.” She adds, “The discrimination starts from the womb to the tomb. We should work towards bringing pride and dignity for every girl child in India.”
