Come April and director Roopa Iyer of Mukhaputa fame will embark on a new project. The film titled Chandra will tell the tale of a last generation princess who gets caught between love and royalty. “Like any other girl the princess awaits her Prince Charming, but what if her match was made in heaven with a commoner instead of a royal?” Roopa adds, revealing a portion of the plot.
She next moves on to talk about the title of the film. “Both the princess and her love interest share the same name, Chandra, and hence I decided to call the film so,” says Roopa. The film will be a bilingual. “It will be made in Tamil as well. This being a triangular love story, one of the heroes will be from the Tamil industry. I am in talks with a few actors and things will fall into place in a few days,” says Roopa. As for the rest of the cast, actor Ramya Krishnan and singer S P Balasubramaniam have been roped in to play pivotal roles. “SPB will be playing the role of a musician. It is with his son that the princess falls in love. Ramya Krishnan on the other hand essays the role of the mother of a prince, who wishes to marry the princess. Her track is mostly set in Rwanda, Africa. We are now looking for a female comedian from the Tamil industry. Kannada actor Sharan is also acting in the film,” she adds.
As for the lead pair, buzz is that popular on screen jodi Prem and Ramya are likely to come back together in this film. “I cannot confirm anything at this stage. No one has signed on the dotted line yet. Also currently I am busy finalising the costumes for the film. The princess will be seen in half saris, among other glamorous Indian attires. I will finalise the cast in a week’s time,” Roopa concludes.
