Model-turned-actor Rajniesh is working hard towards his life’s goals.

'1920' star Rajniesh set to make his next big-screen appearence

The last couple of years saw the debut of more than two dozen actors — male and female — in Bollywood, all of them aspiring to make it to the top some day.

But not all of them could boast of a successful debut. However, model-turned-actor Rajniesh hit a bumper with Vikram Bhatt’s 1920. And now, he’s ready with his second silver screen outing, Phhir.

“Unlike 1920, Phhir is a romantic thriller and revolves around the concept of karma. Playing my part was easy specifically because I believe in karma — do good to get good,” he states. His absence from the circuit for three years is not a matter of concern, feels Rajniesh.

“In fact, I got the time to sharpen my skills. When I started modelling, I never knew acting would be my calling some day, although I was always a film buff — a diehard fan of Big B,” he recollects, adding, “A few classes at Kishore Namit Kapoor’s acting school, some workshops by my director Girish Dhamija and being on sets was what taught me to face a film camera.”

Rajniesh’s very successful stint as a model in television commercials and print has left him undeterred and he knew where he was headed. “I know what I want and I’m working towards it. I see myself on top,” he confesses unabashedly, adding, “Hence, I don’t get unnerved by competition. Also, that’s why I didn’t want to stay put as a model, though I was touted to be one of the highest paid in the country at that time.”

Even though he’s very adventurous, Rajniesh doesn’t see himself in any reality show. “But I do see myself in films like Dabangg, Delhi Belly, Murder 2. I love performing — it’s a high for me to slip into someone else’s shoes,” the actor says. In fact, on the heels of Phhir, Rajniesh has two more films ready for release — a comedy, Be Careful with Tanisha Mukherjee and This Weekend, an action film.

Even though he’s been a regular face on television, Rajniesh feels he needs to work on his PR skills. “The industry might be aware of what’s happening at my end, but I need to shout out my presence too,” he signs off.
