The Avengers Sing Christmas Carols
This one has made the list simply because YouTube user James Covenant’s video featuring Marvel’s The Avengers characters in a mashup that has them mouthing Christmas carols. A single word is mouthed by each character through various lines in the Marvel movies to make the effect. But what really takes the cake and the cherry is the part where Groot (from Guardians of the Galaxy) sings Jingle Bells.
Straight No Chaser ft Kristen Bell - Text Me Merry Christmas
Alone at Christmas? This one cheers you up for the very simple reason that it shows you what connecting at Christmas has been reduced to. Sung by a cappella group Straight No Chaser and Kristen Bell (aka Anna from Frozen), this cutesy track has lyrics like “Baby text me Merry Christmas / Cause I’m missing kissing you.” And as an added bonus, the video’s cute, too!
Boymongoose & Scorpion Fist - 12 Days of Christmas
Santi Das aka Boymongoose is a fictional animated character who can be found on YouTube and he along with his band Scorpion Fist jam in their attic. This particular track is a parody of all things larger-than-life Indian and appears on their album, Christmas In Asia Minor. Chuckles guaranteed!
Idina Menzel & Michael Bublé - Baby It’s Cold Outside
‘Mr Christmas’ Bublé’s duet with Frozen’s Menzel is warm, gives you a fuzzy feeling inside and isn’t a carol in the traditional sense. The accompanying video is a winner. With kids cast in lead roles and the singers simply making a cameo, holds its own.
Ariana Grande - Santa Tell Me
Ariana may, in due course (not in the near future, though), take over the Christmas Queen mantle from Mariah Carey, but she makes her intentions known. This one is fun if you’re having a Christmas sleepover with friends.
Superwoman - Aunty Ji Is Coming To Town
In YouTube superstar Lily Singh aka Superwoman’s home, Aunty Ji and not Santa Ji comes home at Christmas. So warns her mom, even as she bah-bahs her kudi’s farting friends. Lily spits out her angst with remarkable candour.
Christmas In The Air (Beyonce 7/11 Parody)
YouTube channel All Def Digital released a Christmas parody to Beyonce’s new song 7/11. The video spoofs Beyonce’s sister’s Solange’s wedding and mimics the voices of Jay-Z and Bey beautifully. But be warned, don’t watch this video at work.
Ugly Christmas Sweater (Bang Bang Parody)
Christmas is time well-meaning relatives give you ugly Christmas sweaters and you’ve just got to accept them (and wear them!) with a smile. Not Katie Wilson, Chrissa Sparkles and Michelle Glavan. They say as much in their Christmassy parody of “Bang Bang” by Ariana Grande, Jessie J and Nicki Minaj.
