Youngistaan may have failed to strike gold at the box-office but this Jackky Bhagnani-starrer has achieved a feat which not many Bollywood films can boast of. The Vashu Bhagnani movie has been accepted by the US' Academy Awards and Motion Pictures. An elated Bhagnani says that this is the biggest award he could get for his movie. "This is much better than any Indian award I would have got," says the senior filmmaker.

Vashu says while Youngistaan was supposed to be nominated for the Oscars in the foreign film category, it was pipped by Liar's Dice. "We approached the Oscar committee independently to get the movie in their list," he says. But it was no easy task. "They told us that only the movies released in the US can be included in the Oscars so we released the movie there and trust me that was an uphill task," shares the filmmaker.

The movie though has been accepted by the Oscar's committee, it may take another two-three months to confirm if it will be nominated for the Best Foreign Film category. The confirmation read as follows: Your film has met all the requirements and is on this year's official list of eligible films. There are no pending issues.

Youngistaan is directed by Syed Ahmad Afzal and starred Neha Sharma along with Jackky. This was also veteran actor Farooq Sheikh's last film. It is a remake of the blockbuster hit Telugu film Leader. Senior Bhagnani says that though the hero was shown to be like Rahul Gandhi, the film actually was based on present Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is a love story set against the backdrop of Indian politics.
