Gurmeet Choudhary urges housewives to take part in DNA ICan Marathon in a big way

I had participated in a marathon in 2006 along with Debina. I know it is very difficult. You have to be prepared for it. I would say start running as a pratice at least 15 days before the D-Day. Invest in a good pair of shoes because if you are jogging on the road the impact is bad on your knees. Even if you regularly do cardio it is important to practise jogging on the road. That's because you tend to get tired in 15 minutes on road, even if you are used to doing cardio for an hour!
For me, running is an important part of the fitness regime. I alternate between cardio and lifting weights. I prefer running outdoors than on the treadmill. I would love to jog in the morning but my shooting schedule does not allow it. So, what I do instead is go on the sets in track pants and shoes. After pack-up, I tell my driver to take the car and jog for an hour. I stay in Goregaon West, so when I was shooting in Goregaon East I would run home everyday. And, when I was shooting in Mira Road, my aim was to increase the running distance by one km everyday. And, one day I managed to jog from Mira Road to Goregaon!
Work-out and exercises are not restricted to actors. People have this misconception that people work out to look good. While that may be true to a certain extent the fact is it helps you remain fit, body is active and digestion is good. Being fit and active reflects in your work too.
One person I feel has the stamina to take part in a marathon is Akshay Kumar. He is extremely fit and normally works outdoors than in a gym.
But yes, I think women are very strong and if they decide they want to do something they will do it. In fact, in the marathon that Debina and I took part, she won an award, not me! I appreciate DNA's ICan marathon for women, an initiative that encourages fitness. Women are good at multi-tasking and I would urge the housewives to participate in a great way.
