After Aamir Khan's Dangal, Netflix India has bought rights to stream both Baahubali films too
SS Rajamouli's magnum opus Baahubali has created a new benchmark for box office success. No Bollywood release in 2017 has been able to match upto the collections of Baahubali the Conclusion's Hindi version so far. And now reports suggest that the film is still making moolah with it's streaming rights.
According to reports, Netflix has acquired rights to stream Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The conclusion and signed a deal with its makers. Livemint reported, the deal was signed for a whopping sum of 4 million dollars which is approximately 25.5 crores. Jessica Lee, Vice President(communications), Netflix said, "On the content front, we are doubling down on Indian investment to curate a compelling content library enbcompassing original and licensed titles. We are touching a pool of consumers with a great passion for diverse entertainment"
Baahubali is ready to be available in unexplored market of 192 counties with the Netflix deal. Shobu Yarlagadda, co-founder and CEO of Arka Mediaworks said, " We are happy and excited to partner with Netflix. Theatrically, it's not possible to reach all markets, but with this deal Baahubali will reach 192 countries seamlessly."
This news comes immediately after Baahubali 2 completed its 100 day run at the box office, with 1700 crores as earnings. While Baahubali is topping the charts of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) ratings for Indian movies for its TV run.
Made on a massive budget of 450 crores, Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Tamannah Bhatia and Rana Daggubati starrer blockbuster will now get a wider audience with Netflix. This American Entertainment streaming channel has also acquired rights of Aamir Khan films including Dangal and Shah Rukh Khan's movies too.
