Ranbir Kapoor was on an all time high with a string of commercial successes and critical acclaim, both coming his way. Be it Rockstar or Barfi, Ranbir was at the top of his game, giving all the reigning superstars a run for his money. And then, he did Besharam. A risk that fell flat right on his face. Following the Besharam debacle, Ranbir consciously chose his scripts but most of his projects were either delayed or pushed beyond reasoning.

Take Roy for example. The actor, who was there for almost half the screen time was not even considered the lead in the film. Despite a good start, the film failed to meet expectations and turned out to be an average fare. But his biggest failure came right next. Bombay Velvet. Too many wrong choices and a few failures later, Ranbir is now back in full form with Imtiaz Ali's Tamasha. Will it be his redemption? We hope so.

I remember speaking to Ranbir during the release of Bombay Velvet. The actor was already a little under pressure because his last two films had not worked. Pressurised, yes. Under-confident, never! No matter what happened at the box office, Ranbir is still considered very much in the running and unlike other actors whose careers are almost washed out after one flop film, Ranbir has still managed to maintain that stardom. Why? The biggest reason for Ranbir still managing to be at the top is the way he's dealt with his failures. At a time when most of his contemporaries would rather choose to blame the script or the director, Ranbir blamed his conscience for making the wrong moves. Brownie points added.

Here he unveiled the first trailer of Tamasha and looked supremely confident. But the failures does have its after effects. Ranbir isn't willing to let go of this one chance anymore. He's out there to prove. Prove his critics that he's still not 'finished'. And the trailer stamps on the same, as well.

With the brilliant Deepika Padukone - Ranbir Kapoor chemistry in the background, a great director like Imtiaz at the helm of affairs and a quirky love tale with nautanki as the main backdrop, Ranbir's Tamasha has raised our anticipation levels notches higher. From the word go, the trailer manages to grab your attention and remains constant throughout. Almost everything working in the film's favour, there's hardly anything that can become a hurdle for the film at the box office. Unless the film's script falters big time.

But knowing Imtiaz's credibility, it's highly improbable. Also, Deepika-Ranbir's sparkling camaraderie will make it an easy-breezy watch. Why always the same story, they said! We say, here's a love story that intrigues you which might as well be his chance to redeem himself. All the best, Ranbir!
