Why Zoya Akhtar's 'Dil Dhadakne Do' is an acid test for Ranveer Singh?

Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh seems to have too much in common- both in real and in reel as well. While Deepika Padukone is the connecting link in reality, both the actors will be seen romancing Anushka Sharma in their next films. But very few know that it was Ranbir who was the first choice for Zoya's film. Now that Ranveer has taken up the role, will he be able to pull it off?

The character in question is of Kabir Mehra- a happy-go-lucky, flamboyant and suave youngster who is the only son in the Mehra family in Zoya's Dil Dhadakne Do. Revolving around a dysfunctional family on a cruise trip, Zoya's yet another tale of journey and emotions will have Ranveer essay the leading role. Recently, the first look of Ranveer from the film was unveiled and going by the looks of it, Kabir Mehra is someone every girl would love to date. 

But Dil Dhadakne Do will be the perfect acid test for the Band Baaja Baarat star. The reason? Ranbir who was initially approached for the film opted out of the film and the role went into Ranveer's lap. Not just that, Kareena too was considering taking up the film, playing Priyanka Chopra's role- sister to Ranbir. But once Ranbir walked out, she followed suit.
