Why Yuvi’s brother filed for divorce

Yuvraj Singh's sister-in-law Akanksha Sharma is currently a contestant on Bigg Boss 10. And while it's a known fact that the Delhi socialite and Yuvi's brother Zoraver are in the throes of a divorce, it was sooner than expected to see that Akanksha was letting skeletons out of the closet, baring her heart to fellow-contestant Gaurav Chopraa, even letting it slip that the cricketer’s family accompanied her to her honeymoon and that they forced her to consummate her marriage and alleged that they tried to compel her to conceive.

Expect the mud-slinging and washing of dirty linen to continue. In fact, since only Yuvraj’s mom has spoken on the matter, and with Akanksha only able to reply to the allegations, once she’s out of the Bigg Boss house, it is only prudent to see what the Singhs had to say on the matter. The beginning

Zoraver Singh Bundhel married Akanksha Sharma on February 27, 2014 and filed for divorce on April 30, 2015 under Sec 13 of the Hindu Marriage Act 1995. The divorce proceedings are still on in the courts. Singh makes it clear in the papers that “No dowry was taken” by his family and that they made it clear that they would not accept any gift, dowry or cash, etc.

Early days

His plaint was that she “adopted a rigid posture, was maintaining distance and was showing a different attitude”. The couple 'went to Goa, Dubai and Malaysia on their honeymoon. On their return, 'there was complete reluctance on Akanksha’s part to make any physical relationship’ with Zoraver. Sharma 'showed her desire to shift to Gurgaon as her parents were residing in Gurgaon and Zoraver’s family also had a house in Gurgaon’. As such, since Singh claims he wanted to help her settle and agreed to her demand, not realising that it "was the biggest blunder committed by him".

History of bad habits

A month into the marriage, when the couple started residing in Gurgaon, it is claimed that Akanksha reconnected with her friends, all ‘night people’, who would “throng in the evening or make calls and fix up programmes for late evening parties”. Zoraver claims that her friends were into drinking and smoking, some were ‘on substance abuse’ and that Akanksha also started experimenting with the said drugs. He has called it a ‘horrifying experience’.

When objections were raised about her going out every night, she would throw tantrums, shout at each and every member of the family and “would run out of the house without informing as to where she was going”. He further added that his family and he “were always extremely worried as to how Akanksha would reach back safely after being drunk and after having consumed the drugs.”

Trauma caused

The papers maintain that Zoraver and Yuvraj’s mom, Shabnam had to be rushed to Fortis Memorial Research institute, Department of Emergency and Trauma Services, Sector 44, Gurgaon Haryana on July 4, 2014 and was kept in emergency in observation after stabilising her of anxiety.

Zoraver further maintained that Akanksha would  force him to have drinks with her and even “have puffs of smoke from her cigarette and it was really traumatic” for him. That their bedroom “started stinking of alcohol, smoke and it even started of typical smell perhaps of the drugs”, presumably which Akanksha was allegedly “taking in a clandestine manner and when this smell started spreading to the other area of the house as well, the same was noticed and observed by his mother, Shabnam, who confronted Akanksha and then took up the matter with her parents.”

Admissions

On August 5, Shabnam told Akanksha’s mom, “When Akanksha got back last night, she was totally drunk. My concern was that she had many bottles of alcohol in her room and I told her that she should remove all the bottles from the room to which Monika (Akanksha’s mom) totally agreed”. It also states that, “Yuvi called Akanksha home and she admitted that she was taking drugs”. Yuvraj tried to counsel her, but there was no improvement. It’s stated that Monika slapped Akanksha because of her “bad behaviour” and that Akanksha refused to go to a marriage counsellor.

Over time, the papers allege that Akanksha started compelling Zoraver and Shabnam to dole out more and more money to meet her ever increasing demands.

Mental harassment

There are further allegations that Akanksha was not beyond “misbehaving with Shabnam, which included shouting, abusing, answering back and even blackmailing and threatening the entire family that she would run away and kill herself and would involve Zoraver and the Singhs for abetment to her suicide.” The matter was apparently taken up with her parents, but Monika showed helplessness.

Insulting statuses

A fallout over Akanksha’s brother’s birthday saw her abusing the Singhs, allegedly with this Whatsapp status, “Your ass must get jealous of all the shit that comes out of your mouth”.

Cruelty?

Zoraver has maintained that in her pursuits of intoxication, she has “denied the petitioner to satisfy his conjugal rights which act again amounts to grave cruelty both physical and mental”.  That Akanksha posted a number of photographs “with other boys and girls in a most indecent manner, thus, little caring that she is now married”. He further alleges that the pictures were put up just to hurt him mentally and physically and to insult his entire family of the petitioner. That, this conduct of hers “speaks in volumes that she is not at all interested in working out this marriage”.
