Superstar Rajinikanth turned 67 today and while his millions of fans await this day to wish him good health and prosperity, the Thalaivar stays away from his home and avoids any form of celebration on his birthdays.
As per popular belief, the superstar has avoided his birthday only for the past three years, considering he had strong reasons to back out from any form of celebrations. Like in 2015, he requested said no to celebrations due to Chennai floods and in 2016, he asked his fans to do away with celebrations citing the then Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. This year too, he avoided celebrations given that Tamil Nadu and the neighbouring states have been recovering from Cyclone Ochki. But a lot of people do not know that not just the last three times, Rajinikanth has been notoriously avoiding his birthday celebrations for nearly three decades now and you’ll be certainly shocked to hear the reason behind it.
Rajinikanth revealed the real reason on his 62nd birthday as he met his fans in Chennai that year and said, “I used to be always in town on my birthdays. About 22 years ago, three of my fans on returning home after meeting me on my birthday died in a car accident. The bereaved parents asked me a question, which I was not able to answer and I would not like to share what was that question with you here either. That day I decided not be at my home on birthdays,” he revealed to his fans. “I used that decision to my advantage by going out of the station and spending the day alone as I introspect about the things I’d done so far. And also think about the things I’m doing at present and the things I’d like to do in future,” he added.
Well, isn’t that reason enough to make us believe that no superstar can match Rajinikanth’s humility and charm?
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is currently shooting for Pa Ranjith-directed film Kaala. He will also been in mega-budget sci-fi film 2.0, directed by Shankar. 2.0 will release on April 27 and also features Akshay Kumar.
