That Southern siren Shriya Saran will be romancing Ajay Devgn in Drishyam remake is known to all. The film which is slated to release on July 31 also stars Tabu and Rajat Kapoor in pivotal roles. While director Nishikant Kamat has locked the entire star cast of his film and has already started shooting for the same, here’s a piece of information we bet you didn’t know up till now. Before Shriya was brought on board, the Hindi version of Mohanlal starrer was offered to none other than Vidya Balan. However, the Hamari Adhuri Kahani actress wasn’t impressed with the role and therefore rejected the film.

Apparently, Kajol’s hubby dearest and Kamat were eager to sign Vidya for this film but sadly, things didn’t materialize. And that’s how Shriya Saran came into the picture. The Southern beauty will be seen playing Devgn’s wife in Drishyam remake. As for Tabu, well, the talented actress is playing a cop in the film whereas Rajat Kapoor will essay the role for her husband.

While Mohanlal starrer Drishyam became the highest grossing film in the history of Malayalam cinema, only time will tell how well Ajay Devgn starrer Drishyam fares at the box office!
