Hera Pheri was one film that helped resurrect Akshay Kumar's career at a time when he was going through a string of flops. Phir Hera Pheri happened and by then, Akshay had already zoomed into the list of A-listers in Bollywood. But when the third instalment to the hit franchise was being cast, Akshay decided to opt out.

While there have been numerous conjectures about his exit from the film, the actor has remained tight lipped about the same. Talking about the film, Neeraj Vora revealed, "Hera Pheri 3 will start exactly where Phir Hera Pheri ended and it is a film about mistaken identity. There are many Rajus in the film and HP 3 is about finding the real Raju."

If we remember, the prequel to HP3 ended on a note, which called for another film. For people who haven't watched Phir Hera Pheri, let us tell you how it ended. The film ends with Akshay Kumar hanging from a bridge, trying to retrieve a vintage gun which is worth a few crores. Now that Hera Pheri 3 is being shot, we don't understand how the makers will maintain continuity between the two films.

An insider tells us that the makers wanted Akshay in the film but the actor took a back step. "Akshay was definitely the first choice for the sequel too. But he demanded a higher fee which shocked the makers. They were left with no other option but to let go of the film."

When asked Akshay about the same, our Khiladi Kumar shot back, "It is a personal thing and I don't want to talk about it". But will he make a guest appearance in the film at least? "No, I am not there in the film at all," signed off Akki.

Akshay is busy promoting his upcoming release- Gabbar is Back whereas John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan and Paresh Rawal are already camping for Hera Pheri 3
