Detective Byomkesh Bakshy has released and is being lauded for its crisp narrative and superlative performances. But will the film's high content get it past the hit mark at the box office? With recent trends and shifts in Bollywood, it might trod across the hit mark easily.

Dibakar Banerjee, director of DBB, explains why he is desperate for the film to be a hit. "This is one of my biggest agni-pariksha. I have to get it right and I am desperate to make the film work. The film has a great story line and everyone in the film has performed exceptionally well. But we have to get the numbers. We are planning to make a franchise and that can happen only if this one does well at the BO"

Sushant Singh Rajput too highlighted the importance of the numbers while talking to dna. When asked if the box office collections will have any effect, he quickly shot back with a question. "My career? Or the film?"

He continued, "Well, of course, if the film does not do well, I will not get options of choosing from these kind of films. I have to do something else which maybe I wont be 100 percent with." But the actor also clarified how a film like DBB working at the box office will give other filmmakers a window to try out something new. "If this film does well, more and more filmmakers and more and more actors can make films that they really want to make and not just the films that will only do well at the box office"

Talking about other big budgeted films which make 100 crore at the box office, Sushant said, "There is a direct co-relation between every film that is making 75-100 crore at the box office and the content of the film. We still watch a film because there are songs in the film that are very good. There's no relation between the songs and content of the film. But we still are making the decision of going and watching the film because of the songs"

But if the film falls short, will Sushant still be taking up a similar film like this? 'Yes', he convincingly answers. "For me, it does not matter which genre the film belongs to. If I like the script, I will jump on it without thinking about anything else"
