Who's playing Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra’s mom in 'Brothers'?

Shefali Shah, 42, played mother to Akshay Kumar, 47, in Waqt. Now she returns as mom to him and his younger brother played by Sidharth Malhotra, 30, in Brothers.

In his latest production Brothers, a remake of Warriors, the 2011 Gavin O’Connor film about two estranged boxer brothers, Karan Johar has slipped in an additional character of the two heroes’ mom. Says a source, “The character of the two heroes’ mom has been specially written for the adaptation.” 

The talented Shefali, currently seen rocking the boat as Anil Kapoor’s aggressive wife in Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do, plays the small but powerful role of Jackie Shroff’s wife in Brothers.

Too young to play maa?

Tabu and Shahid, who played maa-beta in Haider have nine years between them while Rakhee Gulzar played mom to Amitabh Bachchan in Shakti. Five years separate them. Preity Zinta played mom to Hrithik Roshan in Krrish. They are only a year apart.
