Just about a week to go for Women's Day, Amitabh Bachchan tweeted something special. To promote gender equality. The megastar announced that after he passes away, his assets will be equally divided between his kids - Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan.

While in many Indian families, the property is inherited only by the son, Big B clearly stated, "When I die, the assets I shall leave behind, shall be shared equally between my daughter and my son #genderequality #WeAreEqual."

Abhishek and Shweta are his two kids and he has never discriminated on the basis of their gender.

While this was just to promote gender equality, this came in the wake of the news that late veteran actress Nirupa Roy's sons have been fighting over her bedroom. Late actress Nirupa Roy, who's played the quintessential maa in a number of yesteryear Bollywood movies, has her real-life sons embroiled in a dispute over her spacious apartment at Nepean Sea Road, and who are now fighting to take over her bedroom, reports a tabloid. Both the sons, Kiran, 45, and Yogesh, 57, are staking claims over the bedroom, saying their "sentiments" were attached to the said room.

The 3,000 sq ft ground floor house at Embassy Apartments has an 8,000 sq ft garden, and the tussle over it began soon after Nirupa's death in 2004. after the death of Nirupa's husband Kamal Roy in November 2015, the dispute landed in court. And how much is the said property you might wonder? Well, it's estimated worth around Rs 100 crore.

It's only coincidental that at a time when Nirupa Roy's sons are fighting a property battle, Amitabh Bachchan who has played a son to the late veteran actress in several films, has tweeted against this practice.
