John Abraham, who quietly tied the knot with lady-love Priya Runchal, might have to host an elaborate wedding reception for his friends and colleagues in Mumbai. His  friend and associate Shoojit Sircar says, “He is certainly going to break his no-celebration rule this time. His friends won’t have it any other way.”

John, during all these years in the film industry, has never hosted a party. Shoojit says he was aware of John’s wedding plans for a long time. “While we were shooting Madras Café, John kept wondering when would be the right time to marry. You see, both John and (his wife) Priya are very grounded non-filmy people. In fact, Priya is far removed from the entertainment industry. She comes from a cultured dignified background where marriage is an essential culmination to a relationship. John had decided to make his relationship legal long ago. The problem was, when?”

Shoojit says he suspected John would tie the knot when the actor left for LA for the New Year’s.

“We all knew it would be in 2014. But when he left for LA he gave us hints of a big surprise.

Suddenly one night I got a text message from him with the announcement. I wasn’t surprised. Nor was I disappointed not to be part of the wedding. Both John and Priya wanted it to be  a very private affair.”

However a big post-wedding bash is on the cards. Says Shoojit, “All of John’s close friends  have made it clear that we expect a big wedding reception. And John would have to comply. Kanjoosi nahin chalegi.”
