Unless you’re living under a rock, you must have seen the kickass new trailer of Zack Snyder’s Justice League which brings the greatest heroes in the world (not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or Fox’s X-Men Universe), and we must say the trailer looks pretty upbeat. Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne is out to recruit superheroes to fight against a ‘newly awakened threat’ which most take to mean the arrival of Darkseid and his parademons (seen in the dream sequence from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice). While Aquaman played by Jason Momoa looks menacing (frankly no one’s ever going to make fun of Khal Drogo), Ezra Miller is kind of trippy as the Flash.

But what’s the song playing in the trailer?

The trailer has a pretty upbeat background score which is taken from alternative rock band The White Stripes’ album of the same name which premiered in 2007 called Icky Thump. The song’s timing is even more delicious given the charged rhetoric of American politics against immigration. The song’s defining lyrics against immigration polices go:

White Americans

What? Nothin' better to do?

Why don't you kick yourself out

You're an immigrant too.

Who's using who?

What should we do?

Well you can't be a pimp

And a prostitute too.

Here’s the synopsis of the Justice League movie:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
