Directors are keeping stunt doubles for actors on standby, to prevent injuries and further shoot delays.

Action and stunts have become one of the most integral parts in the filmmaking business today. With some dhaasu car-toppling sequences and some hi-fi chase sequences, Bollywood is taking leaps when it comes to executing stunts, in total international ishtyle! From roping noted Hollywood stunt directors to choreographing some never-seen-before stunt sequences, directors are leaving no stone unturned. And to further prevent any shoot delays, filmmakers are also keeping another option open – keeping a stunt double for most actors on sets! Of late too, we saw few stunt doubles here and there…
Shah Rukh Khan for Fan:
He had a shoulder injury during Chennai Express, and suffered an accident during the filming of Happy New Year. With Maneesh Sharma's Fan, it seems to be no different for the superstar. Prone to injuries, SRK hurt himself on the sets of Fan recently while shooting for an electrifying chase sequence in Croatia- one of the major highlights in the film. "Maneesh has roped in famous Korean stunt director Seyoung Oh to choreograph some of the major stunt sequences that the team just filmed in Croatia", our source told us. The actor had quite an 'ouch time' but given the thorough professional that he is, SRK continued shooting despite the pain. And guess what? Maneesh had already hired a body double for SRK. "The scene required SRK to run- it is basically an action packed chase sequence. Maneesh already had a stunt double ready but even after the injury, SRK continued shooting for Fan", our source said. But we did spot his stunt double, wearing the same clothes as SRK, on the sets of Fan. Who knows, we might just spot him in a scene or two as well!
Ranveer Singh for Bajirao Mastani:
Ranveer calls himself a 'masochist'! Now the tag serves him right, given the numerous injuries the actor has gone through in his less-than-half-a-dozen years in showbiz. And the actor has lapped up another injury on the sets of Bajirao Mastani. While the Band Baaja Baarat star was spooted with his arm in a sling, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was in no mood to waste time any more. The director continued filming for Bajirao, sans Ranveer. How? He had Ranveer's body double ready on the sets. The production team has refuted claims of having a body double for Ranveer but the uncanny resemblance of the body double to Ranveer won't miss your eyes. Plus, the body double was also spotted wearing the same clothes as Ranveer did for a particular scene in the film. Is it too hard to do the maths now?
Hrithik Roshan for Mohenjo Daro:
Remember how Hrithik had to undergo a brain surgery following an injury on the sets of Bang Bang? The injury had taken Hrithik off work for weeks and the Bang Bang team had to face the brunt of it all- rescheduling the dates and postponing the film's release. Hrithik too lost out on Shhuddhi as the makers weren't ready to wait for Duggu. To avoid any such mishap on his film sets (the team is currently shooting in Bhuj), director Ashutosh Gowariker has already kept his trump card ready. Reveals a source from the sets, "Ashu sir is very particular about Mohenjo Daro and the last thing he would want is a delay in the film shoots. Hrithik already injured his arm for which the shoot of Mohenjo Daro was pushed by months. Now to make sure everything falls in place, the director has reportedly hired a stunt double for Hrithik who will be doing the major stunts in the film." But Ashu's move is more thoughtful than professional. "Hrithik wanted to do the stunts himself but Ashu declined. He knows what Hrithik had to go through because of the surgery. That's why you will see Hrithik doing most of the stunts but some of the major stunts (ones which might lead to an injury) will be performed by Hrithik's body double", our source adds.
