Irish rock band U2, who has been ruling the music industry for the past four decades are all set to perform in India for the very first time. They will be performing at DY Patil Stadium on December 15, 2019. U2 will be ending their U2: The Joshua Tree Tour in India and sharing their excitement Larry Mullen told in a statement, "Mumbai is the perfect city to end our JT 2019 tour. Very excited to see you there."

While leading man Bono told Bombay Times, "We’ve been waiting for this moment for the last 40 years!" When asked why U2 took so long to come to India, The Edge told the daily, " I think our shows are quite complicated. There’s a lot of custom hardware, staging video screens and we are somewhat frustrated at times that we can’t take our shows to all the places that we intend on going to. But this time, we insisted that we do that. We made India a priority on this tour and we are excited. It’s a culmination of so many years of our ambition to get to India and meet our Indian audience."

While Bono added, "I think what Edge is referring to is the cost of the show. The fear of the ticket price going up for the size of the audience that we would need to make those shows. Also, to be honest, we weren’t sure if there was a large enough audience for us in India. People over the years had said that there was great interest in our music in the country. We don’t know. We are just coming (laughs!), and now, we are going to find out. Hopefully, it will be a nice surprise. We don’t know what to expect."

Adam Clayton had told in a statement, "We’re much looking forward to bringing a dash of Dublin to Mumbai, India. A country famous for its rich culture of art, music, movies, theatre, literature, food and so much more. There is a lot of excitement in the U2 camp."
