Danny Rand,  or Iron Fist, is the newest superhero joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On Tuesday, Netflix unveiled a brand new trailer for the upcoming series set to release on March 17.

Iron Fist/Danny Rand is played by Finn Jones, better known as Ser Loras Tyrell from Game of Thrones. 

In the trailer, Rand, presumed dead for 15 years after a plane crash, comes back to New York to reclaim his birthright and his family company. But there is more to Rand. He has mastered the martial arts. He can focus his chi and summon the power into his fists. Hence Iron Fist! Which he will use to fight off evil to defend the Big Apple (to begin with).

One can see familiar faces in the trailer. One is of Madam Gao, the villain we first came across in Marvel's Daredevil. But the biggest one is of Rosario Dawson as nurse Claire Temple, who we saw in Daredevil, Jessica Jones and again in Luke Cage. She is the ring binding these defenders together. The Defenders, by the way, are set to make their debut on Netflix in September later this year.

The trailer showcases some fast-paced stunts and spectacular visuals. Take a look:

The character was first introduced in May 1974 owing to the rise of fictional superheroes who knew martial arts. Iron Fist's origin story comes very close to that of Batman/Bruce Wayne. But the dragon tattoo and his loyalty to the people who taught him the martial arts makes Iron Fist different than Batman.

Finn Jones is joined by Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum, Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum, and David Wenham as Harold Meachum.

The ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe has set the stage for a lot of collaboration possibilities. We just have to wait and watch.
