Hollywood films have had a special place for fathers and over the years, we've enjoyed some of the best films crafted on the bond that dads share with their children. Here's a quick list of 7 films you can pick to watch.

1. The Pursuit of Happyness

Hailed as one of Will Smith's best, The Pursuit of Happyness, is a biopic on the life of Chris Gardner, an American entrepreneur. It paints a picture of how Chris invested his life's savings in a sales business, which eventually failed, following which his wife left him. The one year of struggle that strained Chris and his son also shows his journey from an intern stockbroker at Dean Witter Reynolds to the owner of a multimillion-dollar brokerage firm. Directed by Gabriele Muccino and played by Will Smith and his son, Jaden Smith, this film tops the list.

2. Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back

Released in 1980, this film is hailed as one of the greatest cult film of all times, with possibly the biggest fan-base for the film series. This particular chapter of the film is famous for the dialogue "No, I am your father", often misquoted as "Luke, I am your father". And while you're at it, make sure to watch the other chapters from this series too!

3. Finding Nemo

One of the highest grossing animated films, Finding Nemo, is the story of Marlin, an overprotective clownfish, and Dory, a regal tang, on their way to Sydney Harbour to rescue Marlin's abducted son, Nemo. The journey is fraught with dangers and there are several life lessons to be learnt on the way.

4. Kramer vs Kramer

Based on a novel by Avery Corman of the same name, the film features Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep as a married couple on the verge of divorce. How that divorce affects their relationship with their son is what makes this film the winner of 5 out of 8 Academy nominations including Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Director.

5. Field of Dreams

As the famous line in the film goes, "If you build it, they'll come." This American fantasy-drama follows the relationship of a baseball-enthusiast father with his son and is more than the game of baseball. 

6. Hook

One of Steven Spielberg's fantasy-adventures, Hook is based on the children's fantasy Peter Pan, where, Peter Pan is forced to return to Neverland to save his children from Captain Hook.

7. To Kill a Mockingbird

Based on the Pulitzer-prize winning novel of the same name, the film is considered as one of the best film ever made. The story revolves around the life of Atticus Finch, a widower, and his two children. American Film Institute (AFI) name Atticus Finch as the greatest hero of the 20th century, whereas the film in itself won the Academy Awards in the Best Actor category and was nominated for another 8 categories.
