The trailer of the Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey's adaptation of 'The Dark Tower' is out...
The first trailer of the adaptation of Stephen King's best selling series of novels The Dark Tower has been revealed. The fantasy epic will serve as a sequel to the novels of the same name.
The movie stars Idris Elba as the last Gunslinger Roland Deschain, who sets out to cover the journey from Mid-World to End-World to find the titular tower and save both his world and our world from extinction. He is accompanied on this journey by Jake Chambers, played by young Tom Taylor, an Earth boy who finds the portal to Mid-World by accident.
However, their journey won't be easy with Matthew McConaughey blocking their path. McConaughey plays Walter Padick aka the Man in Black, an evil wizard who will stop at nothing to demolish both worlds and the tower.
Before the release of the trailer, Elba and McConaughey started their own banter on Twitter, where they taunted each other over the tower. The two even released snippets from the film about their characters.
The trailer is dark and features some epic gun slinging courtesy of Elba. Roland Deschain is shaping out to be one of the most bad-ass heroes in recent times. Where there's Roland, there's unfortunately Walter.
McConaughey's character doesn't really make us quiver in our boots for an evil wizard intent on destroying the world. In fact, he comes off as wimpy and lame, especially when you compare him to the incredible monsters Elba fights. Tom is capable as Elba's sidekick, who has visions of Mid-World back on Earth and ultimately finds himself there, embroiled in a whirlwind of a world-hopping adventure.
A universe of CGI, epic landscapes and even more gun-toting awaits with the release of Nikolaj Arcel's The Dark Tower on August 4, 2017.
