The makers of Soha Ali Khan and Vir Das starrer 31st October have released its trailer and going by the looks of it, the film looks gritty and heart rending at the same time.

Written by Harry Sachdeva, the film is a Political thriller which explores the plight of a Sikh family trapped in the riots of 1984 which followed post the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The movie, based on a true story, has been directed by Shivaji Lotan Patil and has already garnered a lot of appreciation at several foreign film festivals.

The trailer highlights the struggles of a Sikh family after the assassination and also raises a number of questions. Is it justified to make everyone suffer for the wrong doings of a few? Was every Sikh person a murderer of Indira Gandhi and a traitor? How are the wrongs done in the name of religion and communalism justified? These are but a few questions that the movie attempts to ask.

While a number of Bollywood movies inspired from real life incidents have been made before, this would be the first time a mainstream film based on the 1984 riots is brought to celluloid. The trailer looks quite promising and the film will be a treat for history buffs and fans of political thriller genre.

The movie is set to hit the theatres on October 7.
